Watch the first 5 minutes of this wedding video produced in 2005. Although it was a Greek traditional wedding in the rural area of Halkidiki Greece, we had to embed some contemporary music to spice it up a bit. Hope you like the result. The couple, Sofia and Demos surely did.

Άγνωστο. Τοπικό έθιμο είναι. Και όπως όλα τα έθιμα κανείς δε θυμάται πώς ξεκίνησε. Οι κάτοικοι του χωριού πάντως κατάγονται από την Καππαδοκία. Αν υπάρχει κανείς με παρόμοιες ρίζες και έχει παρατηρήσει αυτό το έθιμο και αλλού, ας μας διαφωτίσει.

By the way, if I remember correctly.. the names on the bottom of the shoe are names of single gals -and the concept is first name that gets worn off-is next to get married!
